Trauma is not an event, but rather a natural response that occurs and is held within your body. It is defined by the individual and can be both experienced and expressed in different ways. There is a physiological reason for how you responded. It wasn’t your choice. Trauma can effect every cell in our body and every aspect of our life currently, and for generations to come. Uncovering and understanding how we have been affected by the traumas in our life is the starting point to help us make sense of our pain. Trauma recovery begins when we decide to walk out of the past. You may feel broken, but you aren’t. You are wonderfully made!
Your body and brain are doing exactly what they were designed to do. It’s trying to keep you safe. Some of the ways it’s doing that may work and be healthy. Other ways it’s attempting to keep you safe may actually be harmful to either your body, mind, or soul.
What should I expect?
Your path to healing is paved with a balanced, holistic approach that combines neuroscience and Somatic Experiencing techniques with trauma informed coaching practices. If you are looking to include faith in your healing, prayer and biblical principles will be included.
Assessment
Your safety and well being are my number one priority. We will assess your saftey and establish a baseline for your activities of daily living.
History
You will be asked for a medical history and brief trauma history. I will not ask you to divulge any painful details at this time. If you wish to share your story, You will have an opportunity to share in more detail at a later time.
Custom Plan
You will lead this journey. You will determine what you’d like to set as goals for your recovery and what areas of your life you’d like to focus on. Together, we will discover how trauma has affected your life and then create a plan for the future YOU want.
The Work
You will learn healthy ways to cope with your emotions
You will identify your triggers and learn how to restore a sense of calm and well being to your body.
You will develop ways to observe your thoughts so you can stop negative self talk cycles and learn to be kind to yourself.
You will establish a self care routine so you are able to show up as your best self.
You will learn how to listen to your body and the wisdom God placed within you.
You’ll develop somatic practices that help you regulate your nervous system.
If forgiveness is something you’d like to work on, we will walk through how to forgive when you are ready and at your pace. Forgiveness releases you from the heaviness of what happened and places it back into God hands.
Reassessment
We will reassess your safety, how you are doing with daily activities, and your goals every 30, 60, or 90 days based on your progress.
