Chronic Conditions and Pain
I wish I could promise you a magic pill or tout a method that is guaranteed to work. But those don’t actually exist. The truth is, chronic conditions and pain is complex and there isn’t one method that works for everyone. Getting rid of symptoms is a process and will more than likely require several methods. That’s why everything people have told you to try hasn’t worked. Every event and every emotion, good or bad, is stored in the memory of our cells. These trigger a response in your nervous system releasing powerful stress hormones designed to prep our body to fight, flight, or freeze. If that response is interrupted or unable to run it’s course, those stress hormones and other chemicals can build up in our organs, muscles, and tissues creating pain and disease. So while you may forget and move on, your body remembers. Our nervous systems are meant to be in a state of flow that allows us to respond to threat and then return to a stabilized. However, our nervous system can get stuck in a heightened or sometimes depressed state, interpreting regular activities as a threat. If you have chronic pain, auto-immune conditions or physical symptoms doctors can’t find a cause for, it may be due to a nervous system stuck in dysregulation.

What should I expect?
History
You will be asked for a detailed medical history addressing any physical injury or conditions that could be causing your pain. We will also do a brief trauma history. I will not ask you to divulge any painful details, but will ask to you to check off a list of any traumas you may have experienced.
Assessment
After your histories are complete, we will do a few assessments. During these assessments we will begin to sort out what needs to be addressed through the physical body and what needs to be addressed through the emotional body. Remember, there is no one doctor, therapist, or specialist that will eliminate this. It will be a team effort. I am not a doctor or a therapist, so what I can’t help you with, I will refer to the appropriate provider.
Custom Plan
Designed for your needs, we will create a plan that incorporates somatic experiencing with trauma recovery coaching. We will discuss both traditional and non-traditional methods of treatment.
The Work
We will get to work right away! Each session will vary and be determined by how you feel that day. We will do an emotional body and physical body check and then focus on what feels most important to you.
A combination of visual and vestibular exercises, movement, sensory stimuli, breathe work, somatic awareness and neuroscience will be used in each session.
We may look at how trauma has affected your life and address managing triggers, healthy coping skills, or setting goals that move you forward.
Reassessment
We will continually reassess for what is working and what is not and will make changes to your plan accordingly.
